Loss despite big total

Ulgham (262-6) v Civil Service (265-6) Northumberland Cricket League, Division One

ULGHAM were defeated on Saturday even though opener Mark Plummer made a terrific century.

After an excellent opening stand with Colin Tait (36), Plummer took the bowlers to the cleaners with some great shots.

Decent support came throughout his innings, although Craig Turnbull (22), Roy Haygarth (17) and Darrell Campbell (14) could not make major contributions.

Plummer was eventually dismissed for 120 and Gary Hall was 17 not out as the hosts finished their 50 overs on 262 for six.

But the Civil Service side were not daunted by the large total and they managed to reach their target with 23 balls to spare, mainly thanks to a knock of 125 not out from Nallagoni.

David Moore was the pick of the Ulgham bowlers with figures of two for 44.
