MORPETH Amateur Swimming Club’s Lauren Howe was the winner of the 11-year girls 100m backstroke at the Northumberland and Durham County Championships in the Sunderland Aquatic Centre.

She qualified for the final more than two seconds clear of the rest of the field, and improved her time in the final to win in 1m16.24s.

The club’s other representatives in the championships were Gregory Parker (13), who made the final of the 100m breaststroke finishing in eighth, Hannah Seymour (10) who also had top 10 finishes in the 50m butterfly, seventh, and the 200m butterfly, eighth, Daniel Dixon (9) and Kate Seymour (10).
