Mitford Marauders (115-3) v Hexham Riot (111-6) West Tyne Senior League Twenty20 tournament

MITFORD got their T20 campaign off to a winning start on Saturday.

They won the toss and put the visitors into bat. Although Hexham’s top-three batsmen played themselves in, they were all dismissed in their teens – with Matthew Ellinor, Kieran Mole and Jay Virpura taking the wickets.

Thompson did score 21, but he did not get much support as Dan Tuite bowled Joyce, Ellinor took his second wicket and there was also a run-out.

Hexham finished their 20 overs on 111-6.

The hosts played sensibly and scored quickly when they needed to as they reached their victory target with 17 balls to spare.

All four top order batsmen – Terry Dunn (15), Wahab Barakat (36), Scott Lawson (16) and Ellinor (33 not out) – contributed to the win.
