Mitford (162 all out) v Warenford (177-8) Alnwick and District League
MITFORD narrowly lost a see-saw encounter at home to Warenford.
The visitors batted first and looked set to make a big score when Brian Thompson and Kevin Thompson made a strong start, including a number of shots to the boundary.
But they were dismissed for 58 and 51 respectively, both from the bowling of Kieran Little.
He took his third wicket soon afterwards when he bowled Patterson for six and Scott Lawson got in on the act when he bowled Rogerson.
Potts made a useful knock of 23 – he was caught Jonny Lees, bowled David Wigham, and Michael Thompson was bowled by Matthew Lees for 14 as Warenford finished on 177 for eight from their 45 overs.
Alex Davies was the first Mitford batsman out in reply for nine.
Matthew Ellinor was in good nick and looked to keep the scoreboard ticking over. He was assisted by Terry Dunn, who played positively until he was dismissed for 18 runs, and Colin Crowe (15) also got out after playing himself in.
The key moment in the match came when Ellinor was bowled by Michael Thompson just one short of his half-century.
No-one in the middle order could make a big enough contribution as Lees (12), Stephan Hunt (17) and Lawson (12) were dismissed by the visitors’ most impressive bowlers – Michael Thompson and Hogg.
Mitford were eventually bowled out for 162.
