Alnmouth & Lesbury (116-6) v Ponteland (112 all out) Northumberland & Tyneside Senior Cricket League, Division A1
A poor batting display proved costly as Ponteland fell to defeat in north Northumberland on Saturday.
The hosts won the toss and elected to bowl and the visitors got off to a decent start.
But things started going downhill once openers Ed Common (27) and Wayne Ritzema (20) were dismissed.
Tom Common and Iftikhar Fazal scored 25 and 18 respectively, but no-one could reach double figures as Pont were all out for just 112.
The bowlers were determined to not make it easy for Alnmouth & Lesbury and Mark Turnbull (two) and Fazal took early wickets.
David Waters claimed two scalps and when Anderson was caught by Rory Marr off the bowling of Liam Cosgrove for 30, the hosts were 82 for six.
However, Denton (37 not out) and Brunton (four not out) saw them home by four wickets.
Ponteland II continued their winning run with a 47-run victory at home to Greenside II.
The hosts batted first and the top and middle order struggled, with only Neil Pinnock (36) scoring more than 20.
But an excellent partnership between number 10 Duncan McGregor (44 not out) and number nine Ashley Parker (26) meant Pont posted a respectable total of 174 all out. Mawson took three wickets for the visitors.
In reply, Greenside collapsed to 127 all out once Madine (35) and Reed (24) were dismissed.
McGregor had excellent figures of two for eight off his eight overs, Ian Smart, Andy Denyer and Pinnock also took two wickets and there was one each for Mark Waters and Parker.
