Kirkley (214-2) v Blagdon Park (218-9) Northumberland Cricket League, Premier Division
IN a high-scoring game at Kirkley, Blagdon grabbed a one-wicket win despite an unbeaten century by the hosts’ opening batsman.
The home side won the toss and decided to bat, which proved a good decision for Mick Nicholson, who scored 123 off 145 balls, with 15 fours and five sixes.
He received support from P Howey, who retired on 23 not out and 24 not out from Andrew Storey, taking their total from 50 overs past 200.
Alistair Clark and Paul Johnson took a wicket apiece.
In reply, Blagdon also had a big score from one of their openers to thank as they managed to chase down 218 with a wicket in hand.
Mark Foster scored 84 with fellow opener David Gibson adding 23.
Middle-order wickets then tumbled cheaply before Matthew Senior scored 22 and Johnson hit a useful 38 off 40 balls.
