Stobswood Welfare (132-5) v Corbridge (133-3) Northumberland Cricket League, Division One

STOBSWOOD followed in the footsteps of many others as table-toppers Corbridge wrapped up their 19th win of the season.

Welfare batted first and posted an under-par score of 132 from 45 overs, despite ending the innings with five wickets in hand.

Opener Ian Watson scored 30, Antony Wingfield top-scored with 39 and Karl Dullaghan closed on 24 not out.

The wickets were spread around the Corbridge attack, although Dean Robinson impressed with 2-15 off seven overs.

In reply, the hosts lost early wickets cheaply, but thanks to Michael Heslop (34 not out) and Christopher Fowler (58 not out) won with seven wickets and more than 10 overs in hand.
