Blagdon Park (247-7) v Clara Vale (231)
Northumberland Cricket League, Premier Division
A BIG-HITTING century from Blagdon’s Nigel Clough led Park to a seventh win of the season.
After a shaky start, with both openers out for single-digit scores, James Sanders and Paul Johnson both scored 34 to steady the innings.
But the man of the moment was Clough who hit 140 off just 142 balls, including 17 fours and one six.
Clough and Johnson put on 141 for the fourth wicket, helping the home side to a total of 247-7.
In reply, Clara Vale, who had won the toss and decided to bowl first, got off to a strong start.
Openers Naveed Iqbal (56) and Zayn Ahmed (35) put on 76 before Iqbal was bowled by Johnson.
Down the order, further knocks of 43 and 33 from Muhammad Rehan and Amber Liaquat respectively meant that Vale went close, but ultimately fell 16 runs short.
