IT was a mixed weekend for Blagdon Park’s first XI in the Northumberland Cricket League Premier Division.
On Saturday, the side were away to Ashington Rugby and the match was in the balance when Blagdon were all out for 173. Nigel Clough (39), Greg Senior (30) and Shaun Collins (29) were their top scorers.
But an excellent bowling performance meant it was a comfortable win in the end as Ashington were dismissed for just 107.
Paul Johnson finished with figures of four for 21, David Gibson and Matthew Senior took two wickets apiece and Alistair Clark and Matt Williamson picked up one each.
However, Blagdon Park lost a tight encounter at home to Corbridge on Sunday.
They batted first again and this time made 190 all out. Collins made 71 and reasonable knocks were made by Greg Senior (21), Mick Leybourne (17) and Johnson (16 not out).
The away side started off well, which was mainly down to Fowler (62) who often found the gaps to score a mix of ones and two and boundaries.
Blagdon came back into it after wickets were taken by Johnson, two, Graeme Gaff, two, Clark and Gibson, as well as a run out, but Corbridge held their nerve and Walker and Hardy took them to 191 for seven with two overs to spare.
