Greenside (86 all out) v Ponteland (88-1) Northumberland & Tyneside Senior Cricket League, Division A2
A FANTASTIC bowling display helped Ponteland record a convincing away victory.
After putting their opponents in to bat, Iftikhar Fazal trapped opener Stephenson for a duck.
Howard Wright then dismissed Smith in the same manner and the Wrights combined when Dan stumped Fellowes for 14 off Howard’s bowling.
He was causing constant problems and Greenside were in trouble when dangerman Penny, who scored 28, could only direct one of his deliveries into the safe hands of Will Urwin.
Craig Moffat got in on the act as there was a middle order collapse and Howard Wright went on to take a five-wicket haul.
There was a small amount of resistance from the tail-enders, but James Ealey stopped it from getting out of hand by taking the final two wickets as the home side were 86 all out.
In reply, Ponteland were comfortable once Wayne and James Ritzema played themselves in.
They both hit seven boundaries and it was a slight disappointment when James was caught on 41 as the visitors were very close to a ten-wicket win.
The margin was nine wickets as Wayne (44 not out) hit the winning runs.
