The wet weather meant many cricket games at the weekend were called off.

Teams such as Morpeth and Ponteland were set to get their season underway, but they will now have to wait until next week.

Blagdon Park did play in the Northumberland Cricket League Premier Division. They lost by 14 runs at Stocksfield despite a knock of 77 not out by Nigel Clough.

Ulgham Village Cricket Club, which fields three teams every weekend, is on the lookout for new players to help bolster squad numbers.

It can cater for all abilities for ages 15 and above. For more information, call Keith Lowes on 078962 65854.
