THE Morpeth based SGR Racing team took a step forward at the Thruxton circuit in Hampshire when rider Chrissy Rouse achieved his first top ten finish at British Championship level.
Rouse rode to a mature ninth place finish in difficult conditions at the fourth round of the Sunoco British 125GP Championship.
He qualified in 14th place in the dry but as race day dawned the weather turned, drenching the track and leaving him to deal with slippery conditions.
The 15-year-old got off to a steady start slotting immediately into tenth place, one lap later and he was in ninth.
He fluctuated between ninth and 11th – fending off Championship front runner Luke Hedger to secure ninth place over the line.
Team Manager Stephen Kinghorn said: “It’s been a tough weekend but we’ve overcome our issues. It was a great mature ride from Chrissy and I’m over the moon with the result.
“We are hoping to get a new sponsor on board soon so SGR Racing is going from strength to strength.”
Rouse added: “I’m thrilled to be in the top ten at this level so early in the season.
“The team has worked really hard to give me the bike I need to do the job so thanks to everyone for making this happen.”
