Percy Main I (137) v Ponteland I (210-8) Northumberland & Tyneside Senior League, Division A1
PONTELAND kept up the pressure on the teams above them in the table with a convincing victory at Percy Main.
After winning the toss and deciding to bat, the visitors started well until they lost Wayne Ritzema (16) and Anthony Quarrell in quick succession.
But Dan Wright was watchful at the crease and he also found the boundary on quite a few occasions to up the run rate.
Decent support came from James Ritzema (20), Tom Seymour (14) and Stuart Taylor (23) and Wright was eventually caught when on 69.
An excellent innings of 47 not out off only 28 balls from Tom Common helped Pont to reach 210 for eight from their 50 overs.
In reply, Percy Main had a few players who started well, but none of them could score more than 30 and they were all out for 137.
There were wickets for Mark Turnbull, four, Iftikhar Fazal, three, Wayne Ritzema, two, and Ed Common, one.
• The seconds won their match without taking to the field as opponents Percy Main II conceded.
