Thirds go nap at home

Morpeth III 5 Stokesley II 1

Captain Ian Foster led from the front and found his way behind the defensive line to give Morpeth Hockey Club’s men’s third team an early lead in their game against Stokesley seconds at Longhirst.

The home side retained possession well and soon they were in on goal again.

This time it was Mo Hamud who scored, having jinxed his way through the opposition defence to slip the ball brilliantly under the keeper.

Foster then played the creative role as he dribbled through into the D and committed the keeper, only to pull the ball back to Finlay Pearce, who put the ball into the open goal (3-0).

It soon got even better as Chris Jones played a good free-hit quickly into the D and Pearce was able to guide the ball with his reverse stick into the goal.

In the second half, although the visitors scored from a short corner, it was 5-1 to Morpeth at full-time as Foster drag flicked the ball straight into the top corner of the goal from a short corner.
