THE rain did not put off the competitors at Ponteland Archers’ latest event.
For the Griffin Shoot – not a recognised Grand National Archery Society tournament as it was devised by the club as a memorial to one of its founder members and to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2007 – three records were broken.
They were achieved in the Ladies Recurve by Sue Giles of Walker Bowman, the Gents Barebow by Chris Pearce of Whitburn Archers and the Junior Ladies Recurve by Alice Pope of Ponteland Archers in her first competition.
The sun came out during the presentations, which were made by Lord Paramount Adam Roberts – Business Manager at Ponteland Leisure Centre.
