Ponteland II (154-1) v Chopwell II (152-7) Northumberland & Tyneside Senior League, Division B2
PONTELAND Seconds continued their winning ways with a dominant home performance.
Chopwell were put into bat and were soon on the back foot as Ashley Parker bowled Collingwood for a duck and later in his spell he bowled Brown for seven.
Jack Schofield got in on the act when he trapped Thevar lbw for 12, however the visitors found some resistance from Tyers and Kendall.
Tyers, in particular, was mixing ones and twos with some big shots to the boundary.
Parker made a crucial breakthrough when his delivery clattered the stumps of Kendall when the batsman was looking good on 36.
David Waters then stepped up and bowled Lintern and Khan for three and four respectively. He also had Tyers caught by Parag Chauhan for 57.
Chopwell finished on 152 for seven after 42 overs.
Matty Bell and Andy Graves got Ponteland off to a good start in reply, with Bell finding the boundary now and again to keep the hosts ahead of the run rate.
Unfortunately, Graves sustained a serious leg injury when on 20 and was forced to retire hurt.
Chauhan came in and put together a decent partnership with Bell to the point where victory was in sight.
The number three batsman was looking set for a big score, but he was caught and bowled by Collingwood for 29.
However, Andy Morgan punished wayward bowling to finish on 29 not out as Pont easily reached their victory target.
Bell (52 not out) scored a well deserved half century.
Ponteland Seconds remain at the top of the table and are nine points clear of second-placed Swalwell II.
