Webster and Foster ease past Lintz

Lintz (96 all out) v Morpeth (97-0) Northumberland & Tyneside Senior League, Division A1

A DOMINANT performance by Morpeth moved them up to joint second in the table.

The home side batted first and started reasonably well until opener Gohery was bowled by Jack Palmer for just seven.

Palmer soon struck again to dismiss Lumley and captain McVittie was out without scoring when he was run out by Jonny Foster.

Jordan Clennell and Nevin steadied the ship for Lintz and they hit a few boundaries to take the score past 50. But just as they looked to fully get on top of the bowlers, Nevin was trapped LBW by Jonny Craigs when on 31.

A monumental collapse followed, with Nathan Clennell edging a Craigs delivery into the safe hands of wicketkeeper Maxted, Ward run out for a duck and David Rutherford claiming two quick wickets that his accurate bowling deserved.

Craigs finished off the tail to end with figures of four for eight as Lintz were all out for only 96.

It took the visitors less than 18 overs to reach their target.

After playing themselves in, Jay Webster and Foster upped the run rate and they both looked in control at the wicket. Webster reached his half century (51 not out) and Foster finished on 44 not out to give Morpeth a ten-wicket victory.
