Morpeth beat Alnwick to give themselves final-day survival hope

Morpeth Rugby Club have taken their North One East survival fight to the last game of the season after a narrow 18-17 win over rivals Alnwick this afternoon.

Joe Forsythe and Callum Duncan scored the tries, while James Phillips and Ben Hornby added the points with the boot to lift Morpeth off the foot of the table and give them a chance of avoiding the drop.

The win also meant that Morpeth claimed the Brett Horse Trophy.

The Northumbrians head to Wheatley Hills for next Saturday’s final-day showdown.
