Morpeth U18 Girls 48 East of Scotland Girls 38

MORPETH U18s girls conducted a good old-fashioned reivers raid into Scotland to play a strong East of Scotland girls team and came away with the spoils of victory.

A tough match pitched the Morpeth girls who were aided by three girls from Alnwick and two from Rockcliff against the best girls from Edinburgh and the Borders.

The match was evenly contested but the strength of support play and the ability to offload out of the tackle saw the girls from Morpeth start to dominate.

Tries from Sarah Foster, Ashleigh Brown, Eve Harper, Emily Allen, Linzi Taylor, Jess Young and Erin Coney help to secure a 48-38 victory at Langholm in a thrilling match, not decided until the last minute when Linzi Taylor sliced through the opposition using a well-worked move and touched down under the posts.

This fixture was a step up from playing most local sides because of the quality and training of the opposition it was a credit to the girls that they came away with a well-deserved but hard-fought victory.

A return fixture is organised for Sunday, November 4, at Alnwick RFC, where the players will hopefully send the Scottish team ‘home tae think again.’
