TOTTENHAM striker Darren Bent was reported to be in the north east last night holding talks with Sunderland.
The Daily Mirror claims the player was in the region after a £10m fee had been agreed between the Black Cats and Spurs.

Bent has only been at White Hart Lane 12 months after making a £16.5m move across London from Charlton Athletic.

But a Martin Jol signing, Bent is now seen as surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane by current manager Juande Ramos.

Sunderland boss Roy Keane is desperate to boost his firepower in front of goal after his side struggled to find the target last season and were last month hit by an injury to Kenwyne Jones.

Everton boss David Moyes is also reported to be interested in taking Bent, who has three England caps, to Goodison Park.
