SCHOOL dinners are all very well, but a group of Morpeth pupils decided they wanted something different this Christmas.

So the Blue Class at All Saints First School in Lancaster Park headed off to the Toby Carvery at Kingston Park for their Christmas meal.

Parents were invited along too and the restaurant turned the meal into an informal lesson, teaching the families about staying healthy, testing them on identifying different vegetables and giving the adults a chance to carve the meat, before they all sat down to the festive feast.

Reception teacher Laura Ritson said: “This was the first time we have done something like this. It was the children who decided they wanted to go out for their Christmas dinner so we did it as part of our Young Chefs’ programme.

“The Toby Carvery taught them all about their food and the day was enjoyed by all.”
