A young busker is fine-tuning fund-raising after a TV nature programme inspired him to action.
Eight-year-old Joe Pattison was so incensed after seeing the cruel treatment of animals in the BBC’s Wild Burma: Nature’s Lost Kingdom that he decided to raise funds for Animals Asia UK.
The Morpeth Stobhillgate First School pupil uploaded a busking video to Youtube with a link to a Justgiving webpage.
Joe smashed his £100 target in just one weekend, and has now doubled it.
He said: “I just wanted to do something to help the bears.”
Mum Sally said: “He couldn’t understand why people would treat animals in such a cruel way. I was happy to encourage him to stand up for something he believes in and to learn at a young age that if you care about something, you can fight for it.”
