A young photographer has sssnapped up a prize with his picture of an adder.

Jonathan Farooqi, from Morpeth, was Commended in the Young Person’s Category of the North East Wildlife Photography competition, run by Northumberland Wildlife Trust, for his photo of a snake taken at Branton Gravel Pits. It follows previous wins in 2010 and 2011.

Trust Chief Executive Mike Pratt said: “Jonathan is a very talented young man and no stranger to taking wonderful winning photographs. I’m sure he has a great future ahead.”
