THERE was plenty of Christmas cheer in a Morpeth garden as children provided some festive entertainment.

Pupils from St Robert’s First School led carol singing in the Old Bakehouse Millennium Green, behind Newgate Street.

Parents, friends and other local residents joined in and many donned red Santa hats and other seasonal headwear.

Carols in the Green has become something of an annual fixture in the calendar as part of the facility’s extensive community events’ programme.

The Green, which is managed by trustees, has been awarded a Green Pennant for the past 11 years as a quality open space.
