Pupils make a song and dance about PE lessons

PUPILS have had an extra spring in their step for PE lessons after learning the art of street dancing.

Youngsters at Morpeth All Saints First School in Lancaster Park were asked to detail the kinds of activities they would like to try using PE funding from the Government.

A range of ideas came forward, but street dancing was top of the list so this week Claire Dobie from Tiny Dancers was invited into the school to run workshops for nursery, reception and Year 1 and 2 groups.

Reception teacher Laura Ritson said: “The children really responded well. They learned lots of basic moves and some even created their own individual moves to show to their parents in a performance.

“It was very creative and imaginative and the pupils are looking forward to the rest of the programme.”

More unusual activities are to come, including rock climbing, tri-golf, skipping, dodge ball, yoga and a family orienteering event.
