Dozens of families flocked to Carlisle Park on Sunday to enjoy a range of activities and attractions.
Picnic in the Park, organised by Greater Morpeth Development Trust (GMDT), included face painting, pony rides, a magician and story-telling with Jo Jingles. There was also willow-weaving, medieval tile making and music from the Ellington Colliery Band, which is supported by Northumbrian Water.
This year’s event was themed around the 300th anniversary of Morpeth Town Hall.
Morpeth Town Council and Northumberland County Council helped out and there was free food courtesy of Morpeth Churches Together.
GMDT officials were delighted with the weather and turnout on the day. The annual event has become a popular fixture in the Morpeth calendar.
Those who came along also had the opportunity to decorate their own flag to celebrate the Town Hall anniversary. The completed flags will be sown together to make some bunting, which will be hung in the Butter Market from the end of July until September.
