MORE than 6,000 people got into the festive spirit at the two-day Kirkley Hall Countryside Christmas Fair.
Families from across the region attended the event at the Northumberland College campus, which included Santa’s grotto, balloon modelling, fairground rides, a ferris wheel, face painting, arts and crafts workshops and entry to Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens.
A range of handmade gifts, toys, crafts and food was on sale from more than 150 local businesses.
The fair also marked the launch of the Kirkley Hall farm-fresh produce business, which offers lamb, beef and pork from the estate and the college’s Carlcroft Farm.
Kirkley Hall Assistant Principal Marcus Clinton said: “The Countryside Christmas Fair was a huge success with more visitors than ever this year.
“It was fantastic to see so many happy, smiling faces enjoying themselves at the Kirkley Hall campus.
“We’ve received lots of positive feedback from both the public and stallholders.
“We’re proud to support rural enterprise and help so many small businesses to showcase their locally-produced products and services.”
