Young North East artists could get extra help to turn their talents into a career.

Next Steps in Creative Experience (NICE) is seeking eight visual artists, aged 19 to 25, who live between Berwick and York, to take part in a six-month training course.

Set up by Navigator North in Middlesbrough, the scheme aims to develop creative skills, as well as present expert sessions on professional development, such as pitching for commissions, managing budgets and marketing.

Students will complete a Gold Arts Award qualification, and the programme is supported by Arts Council England, the Prince’s Trust, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art and Stockton Borough Council. There is a £15 weekly charge for studio use.
