STAFF are flipping out at Morpeth’s Sanderson Arcade to prepare for Pancake Day.

Chef Sam Forvargue, who has worked at the centre’s Barluga restaurant since it opened in November 2011, is putting in plenty of practice ahead of Shrove Tuesday next week.

For the arcade will be serving up the traditional treat of pancakes.

The snacks will be complete with favourite toppings, such as golden syrup, Nutella, banana and strawberries and cream, and customers will be able to pick up pancake-tossing tips as they are prepared in full public view in the Piazza area.

Centre Manager Medi Parry said: “It might be chilly at this time of year, but we’re determined to celebrate Pancake Day with a demonstration of how to toss the perfect pancake, and of course the chance to buy and taste some of Sam’s delicious cooking.”

The pancake demonstration will take place from 11am to 3pm on Tuesday. The arcade is also preparing for Valentine’s Day and its main gallery has been decorated with hearts.
