THE first event of Morpeth Camera Club’s Summer Walks Programme took place on Sunday, May 20, when members attended the Blyth Battery goes to War day at South Beach in Blyth.
Bright sunshine welcomed the group as they walked around the displays of military vehicles and equipment provided by the numerous re-enactment societies.
Enthusiasts walked around in authentic British, German and American uniforms of the period prior to the main highlight of the day, which was a battle re-enactment as opposing forces met on the dunes to fight it out.
A running commentary of events, the sound of gunfire, explosions, smoke and a German tank joining the battle led to plenty of opportunities for photographs.
This demonstration, set against the background of the search light battery buildings and the informative personnel taking part, made it a good start to the camera club summer visits.
