POPULAR TV star Kate Humble has paid a visit to Morpeth.

The former Springwatch presenter visited Appleby’s Bookshop and Cafe in Newgate Street last Thursday to promote her new book, Humble By Nature.

It tells the story of how Kate and her husband Ludo saved a Welsh farm that was threatened with being broken up and sold off by striking a deal with the council to keep it as a working farm and run a rural skills school from it. The book explains the journey and follows the farm’s development.

Ms Humble chatted to Appleby’s customers about the book and signed copies.

Appleby’s owner Alice Wallace said: “We were pleased that Kate Humble came along. She was very friendly and a really nice lady, very smiley and really easy going.

“She couldn’t stay long so we asked her to sign some extra books in case people wanted them and we only have two left now.”
