A HELPING hand will be offered to elderly and vulnerable Morpeth residents to get to grips with the digitial switch-over.

An event will take place in Sanderson Arcade on Tuesday, organised by the Switchover Help Scheme.

The North East is set for the switch-over – when the traditional analogue television signal will be turned off and replaced with a digital signal – in September next year.

The Help Scheme can provide easy-to-use digital equipment, home delivery and installation and 12 months’ aftercare.

Former Tomorrow’s World presenter Maggie Philbin will host a coffee morning at the Morpeth shopping centre to interact with members of the public who will be eligible for support, such as those over the age of 75, disabled people and people in receipt of benefits.

The event will run from 9am to 11am.
