A group of children took to the stage for a fund-raising performance.

The Jill Errington School of Dance and Drama, which provides lessons in Ponteland and Newcastle, recently did a show called Mind Your Musicals at the People’s Theatre in Heaton.

About 170 youngsters were involved, from the age of two up to 18, and a total of £2,175 was raised for mental health charity Mind.

Jill Taylor, who runs the school, said: “The show was a huge success and I am very proud of all the students who took part and what we have achieved

“It was written by Holly Dalton, an ex-pupil who now teaches singing and drama at the school.

“She suffers from Bipolar disorder and at the end of the show she stood up in front of the 500+ people in the audience and told them about Mind and her condition.”

The children were then invited by the VUE cinema in Gateshead to watch a screening of the DVD of the show as a well done and thank-you.
