A THRIVING group of amateur artists received a special visit at a recent session.
After hearing about the organisation and its high-quality pieces, town Mayor Joan Tebbutt saw the Morpeth Art Group (MAG) in action.
It has been going for more than 20 years and there are currently 25 members. They use a range of media, including watercolours, oils, acrylics, charcoals and pastels.
Secretary Florence Murray said: “We were thrilled when the Mayor said that she wanted to see us during a regular session and speak to the members.
“She stayed for more than an hour and she was very keen to find out what each person was working on. Members exchange ideas and learn from one another and we also enjoy demonstrations and workshops given by excellent local artists.”
MAG meets on Tuesdays throughout the year at St Aidan’s Parish Hall, Stobhill, between 10.30am and 2.30pm. For more information about the group, visit www.magart.org.uk
