AN Ellington woman has become the face of a national firm’s campaign which shows that beauty comes in different sizes.
Abi Hill beat off competition from hundreds of entrants to win this year’s Simply Be Fashion Model Search.
After completing an online application, she was selected for the shortlist of 25 to go to Manchester.
And she was victorious after impressing the judges on the catwalk and in a photo shoot.
The 20-year-old, who was snapped up by Tyne Tees Models agency last year, has since been featured in Reveal magazine and has recently had a consultation with a major plus-size models agency.
Simply Be is a brand which specialises in the area of womenswear sized 14 to 32.
Abi, who is a size 16, said: “When a friend told me about the competition it was an obvious one to go for as I really enjoy modelling.
“I was thrilled to get on the shortlist and even though the finals day took about 12 hours, it was a lot of fun and everyone there was lovely.
“It was a big shock when I was announced the winner.
“I’ve done a few pageants in the past and those experiences helped me to keep calm on the outside and not cry in front of everyone.”
The former King Edward VI School student added: “I didn’t enter modelling because I thought of myself as a gorgeous person, I did it to experience something new and improve my self-confidence.
“I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts and if it develops into a career that would be great.”
