HERITAGE defenders in Morpeth will come together for their annual general meeting next week.
The Friends of Morpeth Museum was set up to try to establish a heritage centre for the town.
The prospect of a dedicated museum is still some way off, but the group has strong hopes that some of the 1,000-plus items held by the Morpeth Antiquarian Society will go on display soon.
An update on progress will be given at the Friends meeting on Tuesday and the guest speaker will be former Morpeth Mayor Ken Brown, who will discuss the work of the Heritage Collection Steering group.
Refreshments will be served and there will be a raffle to raise funds towards securing a bronze bust of Lord Collingwood for the town.
The meeting takes place in the Ballroom of the Town Hall at 7pm.
