LESSONS may be off, but there’s still plenty going on at a Morpeth school during half-term.

Collingwood School and Media Arts College is planning a Friday full of fun next week, with a range of activities to suit children of all abilities.

A digital media workshop will take place between 10am and noon, giving youngsters aged eight and above the chance to try out stop motion and computer animation, as well as video game design. The session costs £5 per person.

For higher energy activities children can take part in The Annual Pirates Talent Contest circus workshop, also running from 10am to noon.

It is suitable for children aged five to 13 years and costs £6.50 per person. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Younger children may enjoy a traditional Hallowe’en craft workshop, sing-song and story, from 1.30pm to 2.30pm, which costs £3.50 per family.

The school will also offer the magic of the silver screen with a showing of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (12A), in association with Lovelocal Cinema and Doorstep Pictures. Doors open for the film at 12.45pm for a 1pm start. Tickets cost £2.50 in advance or £3 on the door.

The proceeds from all the events will go back into the school.

Booking is essential for the three workshops as places are limited.
