A culinary delight of Easter treats will be served up in Morpeth. Sanderson Arcade is holding its Big Easter Event on Saturday — and this year there is something of a foodie theme.

Pol Kefton Home, which offers a range of kitchen, home and giftware, is sponsoring the activities to celebrate the opening of its new store in the centre.

Award-winning chef Terry Laybourne, owner of the 21 Hospitality Group, will officially open the outlet at 11am And from noon he will host cookery demonstrations in a special pop-up kitchen in the piazza area of the arcade.

Meanwhile, young visitors can try their hand at cupcake workshops.

There is also an Easter egg hunt, stilt-walkers, face-painting, and the chance to win a £500 shopping spree.

Heart FM’s breakfast team of Justin and Kelly are hosting the event, which starts at 10am.

Centre Manager Medi Parry said: “We’re really making Easter Saturday a very special event at the arcade, and we’re looking forward to welcoming Terry Laybourne to the centre to open the new Pol Kefton Home store. The team at Pol Kefton is busy working on the fit-out ready for the Easter weekend opening and we can’t wait to see what the new store looks like.”

Morpeth Farmers’ Market will also be held on Saturday in the Market Place, and there will be Easter chicks and bunnies for shoppers to meet.
