A MAGNIFICENT royal spectacle of medieval combat can be seen at Belsay Hall this Bank Holiday weekend.

Families are invited to enjoy a living history spectacular as knights from The Plantagenets perform a‘Tournament of Foote in the presence of the great monarch Edward III.

Visitors can marvel at the weapons, martial skills and high impact display.

And there is also a chance to try their hand at the noble art of archery for a small extra charge.

During half-term, the estate will see Time Travellers Go Royal, with a range of activities looking at what it means to be a medieval monarch.

There will be royal trails, have-a-go activities and dressing up opportunities, running from Wednesday to Sunday, June 10.

The medieval combat event is taking place this coming Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, between 11.30am and 4.30pm.

Entry costs £8.50 for adults, concessions £7.50 and £6 for children (five to 15 years). English Heritage members and under fives go free.
