FAIR Day fun will have an international theme this year to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics.
The annual Morpeth event will include a variety of sporting activities, as well as give visitors the chance to see the Turin Olympic Torch, courtesy of its main sponsor Coca-Cola.
But one of the highlights of the day will be the children’s fancy dress competition, which will be themed around the Games and the nations taking part.
The winner usually has the honour of returning to the spotlight to switch on the town’s Christmas lights, but this year there will be an added bonus as they will also be invited to join Mayor Mark Horton in welcoming the Olympic Torch to the town on Friday, June 15.
There is also a £25 cash prize for first place, with the runners-up receiving £15 and £10 for second and third places respectively. A small gift will be presented to every entrant.
The competition is open to children aged nine and under, with registration next to the main stage in Bridge Street from 10am on Fair Day, Sunday, June 10, and judging taking place on the stage at 11am.
