ANOTHER late funding boost has been handed to the Morpeth Northumbrian Gathering.
The William Leech Charity has awarded a grant to support the event’s extra Royal Wedding celebrations.
The main three-day festival runs from Friday, April 29 to Sunday, May 1, but the build-up is already under way.
Children from local schools have been making banners for the grand pageant, based on wedding traditions and the ancient Northumbrian royalty.
And on Wednesday there will be a pre-bookable workshop at Morpeth Chantry Bagpipe Museum for children to create two party table sculptures.
During the following week there will be drop-in sessions at the venue, from 11am to 2pm, Tuesday to Thursday, to make costume items, flags and wedding charms.
On the opening day of the festival, there will be a costume workshop in Morpeth Market Place at the Barnabas Safe and Sound yurt.
