THE Best of British is available at a Morpeth garden centre in a celebration of the nation’s food.
Heighley Gate Nursery and Garden Centre is joining in British Food Fortnight until Sunday, October 2 by celebrating a range of UK-sourced produce in its restaurant.
The facility already uses numerous British products, such as meat, cheese and jam, while its bread, scones and soups are homemade and lemonade and orange juice is freshly squeezed.
Now a special seasonal menu has been drawn up to honour the festival, with plenty of traditional British favourites available.
Customers will be able to pick up free recipe leaflets to try to recreate the meals in their own homes and a competition will run for the chance to win a Christmas lunch for four.
Heighley Gate General Manager Roger Wale said: “To show how committed we are in supporting British farmers and producers, we decided to join in with the fortnight.”
