A Northumberland women’s choir is expected to be seen on the small screen today.
Morpeth-based Werca’s Folk has submitted a short clip to be featured on the This Morning TV show.
The appearance comes after the group featured on Clare Balding’s BBC Radio 4 Ramblings programme and she agreed to become its patron.
Now she is promoting a Ramblings book, the choir has adapted one of its recent works for the occasion.
The Emily Inspires song, celebrating Northumberland Suffragette Emily Wilding Davison, has been re-written by choir Director Sandra Kerr.
It now reads: “Greetings from Northumberland,
From your Rambling Choir
With our patron Clare
We’d walk anywhere!
You’re a sport, you’re a champion,
All women can admire
Clare, you do inspire us yet!”
The group was recorded singing the new words to the song. It was during the Emily Inspires celebration last year that Werca’s Folk was first introduced to Ms Balding.
