A COMMUNITY choir will be performing in Ponteland on Saturday to launch the area’s Fairtrade Fortnight.
All profits from the Caedmon Choir concert, which also includes local bass/baritone Richard Grady, will go to Traidcraft Exchange. The charity assists people in developing countries to trade their way out of poverty with dignity.
The group is celebrating its 25th year in 2012 and members will perform a variety of songs, both modern and traditional.
There will be a stall at the event selling a variety of Fairtrade goods.
The concert will take place at St Mary’s Church from 7.30pm.
Tickets are priced £7 for adults and £5 concessions, which includes a glass of Fairtrade wine or a soft drink, and they are available in advance from all four Ponteland churches.
