THE latest concert in the Morpeth Music Society programme has a festive theme.
A Yuletide Tale, by The Musicke Company, is a semi-staged performance of music, poetry and prose telling the Christmas story.
It includes pieces by Monteverdi, Grandi, Scarlatti, Purcell and Mozart, as well as traditional carols, performed by 17th and 18th Century music specialists Philippa Hyde (soprano), Paul Esswood (countertenor), Jennifer Janse (cello) and Helen Rogers (harpsichord and chamber organ).
The programme is one of a number that have seen the musicians make a name for themselves across Europe.
The concert will be held in Morpeth Methodist Church, Howard Terrace, on Thursday, December 8, from 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £12 for adults, free for accompanied children and £2.50 for students over 18.
They are available in advance from the Chantry Tourist Information Centre and Morpeth Methodist Church, as well as the society’s website at www.morpeth-musoc.org.uk
They can also be purchased on the door.
