THE school name is familiar – but the choir performing at St James’s Church in Morpeth next week will have travelled about 250 miles north.
Stratford–upon-Avon King Edward VI Chapel Choir will be singing as part of its Northern Cathedral Easter Tour.
There are 30 boys in the group, which is directed by Richard Meehan, who is the son of Morpeth parishioner Cyril Meehan, and accompanied by Andrew Henderson.
They will be singing pieces by Thomas Tallis, Benjamin Britten, Charles Stanford and Kenneth Leighton.
The concert starts at 6pm on Wednesday. Admission is free, but there will be a retiring collection in aid of Cancer Research UK and parish funds.
