THE final organ recital of the Morpeth Methodist Church 2012 series will take place this week.
Acclaimed musician Francesca Massey will perform a programme featuring the music of Bossi, Merulo, Bach, Vierne, Schumann, Wammes and Saint-Saens.
Massey is currently Sub-Organist of Durham Cathedral, where she provides music for services, as well as accompanies the choir in concerts, tours, broadcasts and recordings.
She was educated at Cambridge University and the Royal Northern College of Music and has held several scholarships.
At the age of 19, she gained all the top prizes in the FRCO Diploma and has since been awarded the WT Best Memorial Scholarship, the Silver Medal of the Worshipful Company of Musicians and the Musicians Benevolent Fund’s Ian Fleming Award.
She has performed across the UK and in South Africa, Sardinia, Sweden and Denmark with Caius College Choir, with which she recorded a number of acclaimed CDs.
The recital will take place at the church in Howard Terrace tomorrow at 12.30pm. Admission is free and light refreshments will be available.
