AN evening of popular and light classical music from a renowned professional organist can be enjoyed on Saturday in Morpeth Methodist Church.

Nigel Ogden took up playing the instrument at the age of 12 and was first heard on the BBC Radio Two show The Organist Entertains in 1972. He later took over as its regular presenter and still does this today.

He was also the first professional organist to play the church’s new three manual Allan organ following the refurbishment of the building in 2004.

The concert starts at 7pm. Tickets are priced £8 and include light refreshments.

They can be bought from the church office in Howard Terrace, telephone 01670 511078, David Brough on 01670 510881 or email office@morpethmeth.org — and on the night, subject to availability.
