Poor Boys lend their support

A LOCAL blues band will be lending its support to schoolchildren in a fund-raising concert.

The Poor Boys will play a special gig at The Alley in Morpeth to help raise funds for Nunnykirk School for Dyslexia.

The event is part of a string of initiatives to collect cash for a new go-kart track at the school, which have included a sponsored quadrathon, raffles, pick-a-duck games and a stall at Morpeth Fair Day. The Greggs Community Fund has also contributed.

The fund-raising gig has been organised by the school’s Parent Teacher Association and members Stephen and Alison Kerr hope it will also give former pupils the chance to enjoy an informal reunion.

Nunnykirk teacher Ken Smith said: “The event will help us in the final push to get the funds to complete our go-kart track at the school.

“The pupils, staff and parents have been fund-raising really hard over the last year or so to enable us to reach our target for the track and we hope The Poor Boys will bring in a great crowd.”

The gig will take place on Friday, March 16, at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10, including a buffet, and can be reserved by emailing secretary@nunnykirk.co.uk with contact details and the number of tickets required.
