A MORPETH boy has shown his star singing abilities after taking a lead role in an acclaimed Christmas concert.

Ten-year-old Stefan Clough joined 27 classmates from Dame Allan’s Schools’ choir to perform alongside Newcastle’s famous Bach Choir.

The group performed Benjamin Britten’s St Nicholas Cantata as the choir’s first concert of the season at the King’s Hall, Newcastle University.

And Stefan had the focal role as the boy Nicholas in the second movement and sang the refrain during the stories of his childhood.

The concert was conducted by Eric Cross.

School Principal Dr John Hind said: “Music is flourishing at Dame Allan’s and we are particularly pleased to see the continuing talent of the junior pupils this year.

“Music plays an important role in the life of the schools and we are privileged to be able to contribute to the musical life of the city too.”
